The Clothesline ( St Andrews Clothes Bank) at the Community Hub

This humble yet impactful resource serves as a lifeline for individuals and families facing financial struggles or unexpected hardships. In 2023 we gave away over 1600 bags of clothes, bedding and household items to families and individuals in North East Fife. We also work closely with Fife Council, Transition University of St Andrews, St Andrews Environmental Network and Fife Voluntary Action to help refugees and families in need.

A Helping Hand

The Clothesline operates on the simple premise of neighbours helping neighbours. Through generous donations from community members, we are able to offer a diverse selection of clothing essentials to those in need. From warm winter coats to professional attire for job interviews, the Clothesline strives to meet a variety of needs with dignity and respect.

Promoting Dignity and Self-Worth

More than just providing clothing, the Clothesline is a beacon of hope for those experiencing difficult times. By offering quality items in a welcoming environment, we aim to promote dignity and self-worth among our visitors. Every individual who walks through our doors is treated with kindness and compassion, reaffirming their inherent value as members of our community.

Building Connections

The Clothesline is more than just a distribution centre. Volunteers play a crucial role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, offering a listening ear and a compassionate heart to those who visit. These interactions not only provide practical assistance but also foster a sense of belonging and support.

Sustainable Outreach

Sustainability is key to the success of the Clothesline. Through thoughtful donations and efficient management, we ensure that our resources are used wisely to benefit as many people as possible. By encouraging recycling and reusing clothing items, we also strive to minimise waste and promote environmental stewardship. We have a Repair, Recycle Session every Monday where clothes are being mended and it is a place where connections are forged and friendships are nurtured. Get involved!

The Clothesline relies on the support of our community to fulfil its mission. Whether through clothing donations, volunteer hours, or spreading the word, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference. Together, we can continue to uphold the values of compassion and solidarity that define our community.

In conclusion, the Clothesline at the North East Fife Community Hub is a testament to the power of collective action and compassion. It serves as a reminder that by coming together to support one another, we can create a stronger, more resilient community for all.
